About Me
Grace is Home

Woman, wife, mother, yiayia, sister, aunt, cousin, friend, worshipper, grace ambassador, love coach, and social activist.

I revel in each and every role. Ultimately, the only one that will remain is me as a worshipper. I’ll be worshiping Jesus for all that He has done for me for all eternity!

I am passionate, expressive, creative, compassionate, gentle (and fierce!), a lover of simplicity, freedom and experience.

The most sacred moments, the ones in which I feel God’s presence the most, usually involve the sharing of a meal (and our hearts) around a table (kitchen tables invite intimacy) with family and friends who are hungry – not just for food, but for life and love to the fullest. After all, Jesus is the bread of life.

Music also binds me to God in ways that nothing else does. For me all music is a form of worship, whether a gentle lullaby, an evocative sonata or opera, or world music, particularly the passion of gypsy jazz (blame it on my Jewish roots).

I live with my “tall husband” (God grants the desires of our hearts!), an executive coach, poet and all-round incredible man, in a charming vintage cottage in the coastal city of Port Elizabeth (now called Gqeberha), South Africa. Our beautiful daughters are Lauren (a talented artist and photographer) and Cayly (a drama teacher and visual storyteller). Our precious grandchildren Joshua and Charlotte help us to re-appreciate how joyful and innocent life should be.

Through Grace is Home I want to share how God’s perfect Grace is lived out in my every day, ordinary imperfect life.

I’m hoping you’re reading this while sipping a coffee or a glass of wine at your kitchen table, or curled up under a blanket on the couch, or in the bath (just don’t drop your phone!). Somewhere comfortable and enjoying a quiet moment to yourself. And more than anything, I’m hoping that while you may laugh at my escapades, question my choices, disagree with my beliefs, that my stories will still resonate with you in some way.

For me, Grace is not merely a teaching or doctrine, but is all about the redeeming love of Jesus. The day that I fully grasped that God – because of Jesus’s sacrificial death – would never ever again judge or condemn me, I was completely undone, and my tears of gratitude and joy were unstoppable. When God’s unconditional love overwhelmed me everything in my life started to change. Instead of hiding or running from God, I started running towards him. Instead of struggling and striving to live right I started allowing His love to transform me from the inside out.

I had struggled with feelings of unworthiness, doubt, guilt, and fear, so how awesome to discover that Grace was not about what I deserved, but all about God’s love and the unearned, unmerited favour that he gives freely without demanding anything but to simply believe it and receive it as a gift.

“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” Mathew 11: 28-30 MSG

I pray that you will experience Jesus as an accepting, loving and gracious Lord as you read of living in the unforced rhythms of Grace. I am not perfect, but I am perfected in His love, and fully righteous because of it. Oh, how he adores you and me – exactly as we are, right now. That’s Grace, and Grace is our Home.

Time Untimed by Time

A whimsical, wise reflection on time with ticking clocks, cosmic pauses, and learning to receive life’s sacred moments rather than race through them.

The Promise of Yes

Grateful for mornings of mist, lavender, dragonflies, and quite miracles. A reminder to pause, breathe, and say yes to love, life, and renewal.

Before The Wind Sings Summer

Jann Warner
Sometimes the most sacred thing we can do is pause between seasons, to float a little longer in the light before the wind sings summer.

The best is yet to be

A heartfelt tribute to my mom, Freesia May — her wisdom, grace, and zest for life remind us it’s never too late to bloom. The best is yet to be.

Baking and breaking bread

Jann Warner
I haven't baked bread in a while. Grab your apron and join me in the kitchen as we bake and break bread together. I would love your company. Oh, please pick up some fresh farm butter on your way.
